The Town of Derry has a total population of 33,180 people of which 51.0% are female, 95.7% are white, and 10.4% are 65 and over.


Of the 12,934 households in Derry, 33.9% have children under the age of 18, 52.7% are married couples, and 11.4% are female householders with no husband present. 23.7% of households are individuals living alone and 8.1% of households are individual living alone who are 65 and over. The average household size is 2.55 and 3.6% of households have no vehicle available.

Functional Needs

10.3% of the people in Derry have a functional need that results from hearing, vision, cognitive, ambulatory, self-care, or independent living difficulty. 42.4% of these individuals have two or more types of disability. 10.9% of males and 32.3% of individuals 65 and over have one or more disability.
